I learned to use the LATEX tool in my math career, particularly when I developed my undergraduate thesis, because I had to manipulate many equations, graphs, tables. In this sense, I can say that writing mathematical expressions under your environment is more comfortable and easier than with other generic text editors. I think that latex allows to generate elegant documents in view of the reader.
